The Light Sculpture resembles Darwinist Ernst Haeckel’s drawings. Using a simple action — intensifying the brightness at the center — the light transforms the space and adds character, throwing oversized shadows onto walls and ceilings. The sculpture is mirrored and upside down, inspired by Pío Díaz’s fascination with mirrorings.

As the intensity increases, the room changes. The shadows engulf the space and transform the walls into unruly shadows of branches, bushes and gnarled trees. Mirrorings are thrown onto the walls and ceilings, providing weak Rorschach-like hints of faces, life and flow of consciousness.

Branch Vertical is a light sculpture made from cast and patinated bronze and brass, developed from organic branch forms inspired by old vines and natural growth.

The vertical composition gives the piece an ascending movement. It feels rooted and architectural, as if a fragment of nature had grown upward inside the room.

Each branch is produced through refined casting processes that preserve small textures, twists, scars, and irregularities from the original organic form. The surface is then finished and patinated by hand, giving depth to the metal and allowing the piece to hold light with warmth and presence.

Branch Vertical works as both sculpture and chandelier: a suspended organic structure where metal, light, and shadow create a quiet but powerful atmosphere.

As an artist I like my curiosity to continuously explore new areas. I like to layer my works with knowledge and I always struggle with time. Color theory is one of them. This work is the opening of a new era, my color theory era — a playful excuse to be very serious about color.

Each glass undergoes a step-25 process including mouth blowing, inside polishing, sandblasting, painting and surface waxing.
